I Am

Eyes open, wide awake.
Familiarity surrounds me—darkness at every turn.
Warm, comfortable, safe.
Nowhere to go, yet this is a construct—
A creation of the human mind.
As growth begins, pressure builds,
She reveals herself.
The great chasm opens,
Now left behind.
Only lightness and love remain,
Stretching into the infinite.
Pure love, pure presence.
I am.
So long, goodbye, back into the box,
Kicking, screaming, fighting.
Thrashing, thinking, tinkering—
But no closer to freedom.
Exhausted, depleted, not a step moved.
I sit in the corner, facing the darkness,
And at last, I let go.
The great chasm reappears above—
Strange, it’s always been there,
As beautiful as a dove.
I’ve faced the darkness within,
Wings unfold, the box opens wide.
Only love and light remain,
Returning to who I’ve always been.
I am.
